Two people and a long weekend
For a couple the tower runs like a small spa. It has a swimming pool and a jacuzzi, and a sauna and a steam room sit alongside them for the cooler hours. A yoga room covers the morning, so a slow start does not mean leaving the building.
Between the gym and the wet facilities, a roof or deck area and landscaped gardens give you somewhere outdoors to sit when the flat feels small. You can plan a whole day around the building if the weather or the traffic argues against going out.
When the children come too
Children have their own corner of the tower: a play area for them, and a running track for whoever has energy left over. Bayside Park 3 is 0.24 km from the building, which gives you a second playground without a taxi. KidZania is the indoor day out across the district for afternoons when the heat or the rain decides.
Bay Avenue Park has space for cycling, football and dog walking, and it has free Wi-Fi with a shopping centre beside it. It also has a skate park with a graffiti-style design that teenagers like, so an older child is not left with the toddler slide.
Dubai International School is 1.98 km from the tower, and Families weighing a term here, rather than a week, can also look at Repton School Dubai and Nord Anglia International School, which are among the larger schools that families in Business Bay reach by car.
The first shop
Longer stays are won on errands. A supermarket and Life Pharmacy sit within 0.02 km of the tower, so the first evening needs no taxi at all. Spinneys and Choithrams stand on Bay Avenue for the bigger weekly shop, and Ufc gym is 0.39 km away.
When you need a doctor
Medx is the nearest clinic at 1.33 km, and BIOS CLINIC is 1.72 km out. Emirates Hospital Clinic is on Bay Avenue, while Aster Clinic and The Valens Clinic are elsewhere in the district, which means a minor illness during a month-long stay is a short errand and not an expedition across the city.
Desk, door and car park
Over a month the plain building services matter more than the pool. The tower has a reception desk, security and CCTV cover, and maintenance services on site, and parking is provided for residents, which settles the question of where the car goes if you hire one for the stay. Street parking in the district is paid.
Landing from DXB
Dubai International (DXB) is 21.0 km from the tower, about 22 minutes by road. A taxi covers it in one leg, and it drops you at the building.
Which road, and when
Business Bay sits between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road, and Ras Al Khor Road gives a third route in. Peak-hour traffic slows all three, and the bottleneck is at the point where Sheikh Zayed Road feeds into the district. The airport run and the dinner run are quicker outside those hours.
The Dubai Water Canal cuts the district off from its neighbours, and road bridges cross it at Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Wasl Road and Jumeirah Road. Three pedestrian and cycle bridges add a second way over for anyone on foot or on two wheels.
Bus stop and canal ferry
The bus stop called Mayfair Residency 2 is 0.09 km from the entrance, and the Marasi ferry stop is 0.67 km away. The DC2 marine line runs along the canal and stops at Marasi and Business Bay among others, which turns a slow road crossing into a boat ride.
Along the boardwalk
The Dubai Canal Boardwalk runs through Business Bay and gives the towers a waterside walking route. Business Bay Canal Lawn, WaterPlace Park and Marasi Drive Park are the named green spaces along it. The Dubai Canal also links the district by water transport to older parts of the city, so a walk along it can end with a boat instead of a return on foot.
Where the year turns
Dubai's calendar gives the year a shape. Winter brings the shopping festival and spring brings Ramadan and Eid, while Summer Surprises fills July and August and November is the fitness month. The Dubai Water Canal promenade has walking paths and cycling tracks plus waterside dining, and it is the outdoor option whichever month you arrive.
What the tower asks of you
It suits you less if you want a quiet residential street. Business Bay is work-driven and can feel transactional, though the central position, the canal walks, the cafes and the gyms count in its favour. It also suits you less if you want the Red Line at your door, because Business Bay metro is 2.0 km from the tower. That is a taxi or bus leg.
Across the canal in Downtown
Business Bay borders Downtown Dubai and has its own Red Line station, next to the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall stop. Drives run about 11 minutes to Downtown. If you are weighing other Business Bay towers, Safeer Tower 1 and Zada Tower are worth reading alongside this one.
An evening that needs a ride
Souk Al Bahar is 1.44 km from the tower and Cinemacity is 1.48 km, so a Downtown evening is a short ride, not a walk. Dubai Opera and The Dubai Mall sit in the same stretch.
Coffee and Bay Avenue
Cafe Delices and Caffe Divino are the named cafes in Business Bay. Bay Avenue is the district's own mall, with two levels of indoor and outdoor retail space, and it is where most of the small errands land.
Concerts and farmers' markets at Bay Avenue give you a chance to meet people, and the weekend feels different from the weekday.
Why the district exists
Business Bay has been under development since 2005, designed to echo business centres such as Manhattan and Ginza in Tokyo. It sits between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road, which explains why so many of its towers rise past twenty floors.
