Who the tower suits
Business Bay works for a stay built around work. An apartment with its own kitchen beats a hotel room once a trip runs past a week. Fairview Residency gives you that in two sizes. A couple on a long weekend can take a one-bedroom and spend the evenings in the pool and the jacuzzi downstairs. A family with children is better off in a two-bedroom, with the play area inside the building and the barbecue area waiting for the evening meal.
If you are in town for a month, the gym downstairs and the cafe on site keep the routine steady from the first week. Maintenance services are provided at the building, which matters more on a long stay than on a short one, because a small fault in week three is harder to live with than one in week one.
A day without leaving the tower
Mornings belong to the gym and the swimming pool, before the day heats up. By noon the cafe or restaurant on site can handle lunch, so you do not have to go anywhere. From DXB to the front door
Dubai International Airport (DXB) is 20.1 km from the building, about 20 minutes by road without traffic. A taxi from arrivals takes you straight to the reception desk. If you prefer rail, the Red Line links Business Bay Metro Station with the airport, and the station is 2.3 km from the tower, so the last leg is a short taxi hop.
Roads, a bus stop and the canal boat
Business Bay sits between Sheikh Zayed Road to the north and Al Khail Road to the south. Ras Al Khor Road is the third way in. Traffic slows entering from Sheikh Zayed Road at peak hours, so a morning trip across town takes longer on that side.
A bus stop named for the building stands at the tower, and the F41 and X22 routes call at its neighbour a short way off. The canal has a line too. Marine line DC2 stops at Business Bay. The nearest ferry stop, Al Wajeha Al Maeyah, is 0.85 km from the tower. That makes the water a slower and quieter way across the district.
What to weigh
Pools and gyms are common across Business Bay, and so is covered parking. They put Fairview Residency level with its neighbours rather than above them. The district is work-driven and can feel transactional, though the canal walks and the cafes count in its favour. Fairview Residency suits you if you want a central tower with its own pool and gym, a cafe on site and Downtown close by. It suits you less if you want the metro at the door, since the station is a bus or taxi ride from the tower. That is the trade. Business Bay has a long list of towers, and a neighbour like Noora Tower or Escape Tower may fit a different list of needs.
Dinner on the canal edge
Dinner in Business Bay runs from The Blacksmith Bar and Eatery, which serves American-style barbecue, to MAMA'Esh for Palestinian street food. Mahec and Patiala serve North Indian food and My Govinda's is vegetarian, while ROKA Dubai covers Japanese and Zaatar w Zeit serves Lebanese food around the clock. Cafe Delices and Caffe Divino do the coffee. Vyne Restaurant and Bar and Circle Cafe are the names for weekend brunch.
The canal walk and the lawns
The Dubai Water Canal Walk is used for walking and running, with bike hire and coffee spots beside the water. Marasi Boardwalk adds skyline views and restaurants. For grass, Business Bay Canal Lawn and WaterPlace Park are named green spaces, as is Marasi Drive Park. A park lies 0.45 km from the tower. Safa Park, across Sheikh Zayed Road, is the nearest large one.
When the tower gym is not enough
Yoga with Natalia Celada is 0.33 km from the tower, and UFC Gym is a little further at 0.44 km. Fitness First is in Vision Tower, and Elevation Fitness is on Al Sa'ada Street.
A hot afternoon indoors
La Perle by Dragone stages artistic performances in Business Bay. Cinemacity is 1.46 km from the tower and KidZania is 1.52 km away, so a hot afternoon has more than one answer. Bay Avenue hosts farmers' markets and music festivals through the year.
Clinics and classrooms
Medx is 1.23 km from the building, and Aster Clinic and The Valens Clinic are in the district. Younger children are served by First Path Montessori and Hummingbird Nursery. Dubai International School is 2.18 km away, while Repton School Dubai, Swiss International Scientific School, Nord Anglia International School and Kings' School Dubai are the larger campuses families reach by car.
How the district was drawn
Business Bay has been under development since 2005, designed to echo business centres such as Manhattan and Ginza in Tokyo. Dubai Properties shaped it through projects such as Executive Towers and Bay Square. The canal's twisted pedestrian bridge was renamed the Bridge of Tolerance on 15 November 2017.
